New Snapper 12.5 28 inch cut not good on slopes

Just curious, bought a new lawnmower yesterday and took it back today. It is a Snapper 12.5 28inch cut. Works great on flat land but it horrible on slopes, not even big slopes either. You feel like you are going to fall off. Is this a natural feeling. Is this because this is a rear engine. The slopes aren't that big either. My friend next door has a regular riding mower and I took it for a test, and it never felt like that just a little. I was told by another dealer that slopes are not good for a rear engine lawn mower. Found this forum so this should be of great help. What kind should I buy to you recommend. Not a very big lawn but big enough, thanks everyone...

Pardon my perhaps foolish questions but im very ignorant when it comes to these types of mowers.

Is this snapper one of the mowers that turning/propulsion is handled soley by the rear wheels and the front wheels are on casters and freely turn/move/i.e. you could turn the front wheels easily with your hands?

I have read about/can imagine mowers like this being of little or no use on a hilly terrain because if you were trying to mow across the hill (going side to side on the slope and not mowing up and down the hill) I can see it being very hard to keep straight and stop the mower from just wanting to turn down hill.

The Snapper riders usually have the front wheels on an axle that is steered like driving a car, or a regular lawn tractor. My Snappers do not have swivel front wheels.Zero-turn mowers do have that type of caster steering.

Sorry but I don't understand what you are trying to say. Can you try to explain it to me again, thanks.

Snapper is narrow based width and on a good slope may cut deeper on the down side being cut than the upper side. Cut the slope up hill then down hill. I wouldn't think that the rear engine would contribute much to any problem.

Are you cutting across the hil or up and down. If across then yes certainly you will get the sensation of falling over to the downhill side. Mow up and down the hill instead.
