Gold colored Lawn Boy Mower

| My aunt has an odd looking Lawn Boy mower. It has the rectangular head on it but instead of green it is a gold color. My aunt says my uncle bought it in the 60's but almost never used it. It's got a lot of dirt on it from sitting but I can see it's in pretty much brand new condition underneath.
So anyone know anything about this mower? Thanks. |

| In the early and mid 1960's, Lawn-Boys were either gold, tan, or light green (depending on the specific year). What your aunt has is a typical classic Lawn-Boy with either a D-400 or a C-series OMC 2-cycle engine. If the deck and engine are in good condition, it'd probably sell for $100 to $250 on eBay. |

| Here is a 60's lawnboy that just sold on ebay. Does it look like that one? |
Here is a link that might be useful: LawnBoy Mower

| Can you get the model number? They were great mowers, light easy to operate and didn't ask for much. Fresh gas properly mixed, a clean air filter and sharp blade kept them running for years. I would like to find a good one just to be politically incorrect. |

| I do not believe any "D" LBs were painted Gold. That would be a "C" Walt Conner |

| By 'rectangular head' I'm sure he has an old 'brick top' which would be a 'C' as Walt said. Whatever it is, it is a rare and collectible Lawn-Boy, and at the least would be fun to use once in awhile just for that distinctive scent - toasted grass on the under-deck muffler, fresh-cut grass and Lawn-Boy oil, all combining for a unique mowing experience, not to mention the 'burble' and 'power hum'. be careful with the mix, it might be 16:1. Whether 16:1 or 32:1, I would use Lawn-Boy oil in it. |

Tooltime, The gold and off white mowers (as lawn Boy called those colors) were offered between 1958 and 1961. As Walt & Sax said, they were all C motors. What is the model number. It's on the round disc on the back of the deck. |

| Thanks for the replies guys. It is a Model# 5200 18" |

| According to the parts viewer on Lawn-Boy's website, the model 5200 was offered for one year only (1958) and it had a C-series engine. Given its one-year-only status, if your aunt's mower is in good condition (and you don't want to keep it), it definitely should sell for at least $200 on eBay. |

| Thanks again guys, I think I have her talked into selling some of the stuff she has in her barns as she is getting on in years and we have to clean this place up. I will link the Craig's List or Ebay site to this thread when we are ready. |
