| Hello, this is my first post here.
I have a 10 year old Sears Craftsman 21" model number is 917.388290. I have used it a couple of times this season (it always takes a few tries to get it going) but now with the last time I tried to fire it up, I can't get it to stay on. It goes right off after a few seconds. I just replaced the air filter and gave it a little oil but that did not solve the problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? Thanks, Dan |

| Sounds like the carburetor to me. You could rebuild it, or replace it with a new one. |

| I was told to remove the bowl first and clean that out good. Where can I find that on my mower? 917.388290 |
