I am an old man trying to keep this BIG place cut,I have old
White zero turn 18 HP FR1800 series and replaced the motor
with same type and all went well until the motor stalled and
smoke started in the clutch area. Yep to my horror it was the
electric clutch. It was NOT even turned on. How can that be?
I did not leave out the stops on the clutch, no voltage was
going to it since I did not have it on, the motor was running
slow only about 1000 rpm I had finished cutting. How can I
prevent this from happening again with the used clutch I have
coming ( I am on SS and cannot but a new clutch or mower)Will
someone PLEASE tell me what went wrong. I have been keeping
this mower going for 20 years. "Bill"

RE: electric clutch

Maybe it was just time. Perchance did the clutch have to be pulled from the old motor?
