D Series LB Crank Seals

Hello. Is there any special trick or procedure to replace the upper and lower seals on my vintage D Engine? The service manual is not really specific. Can this be accomplished with standard tools or will I need to buy specialty tools such as seal remover and installer. Thanks !!

Well you don't seem to be getting much response. I just use a small screw driver to pop the old seals out being very careful to not damage the crankshaft seal area. IF they are stubborn, I drill a small hole in the middle of the metal part, run a small metal screw into it and pull on that.

Install using a pc. of plastic pipe or something similar to drive them in place. I have no special tools.

Thanks Walt. I was hoping to get a response from one of the true LB experts here. I'll give it a shot when I have some time. They are probably due for a replacement since they are still the originals from 1969!!!
