craftsman edger won't start

The edger won't start. I took the carburetor off and then the float bowl. A small needle fell out of a small inlet in the carburetor. There is a small spring clip attached to it. Does this needle just slide up into the small hole or does the spring clip get attached to the small metal piece on the float ???? Thanks in advance for your help. Thank you

"Does this needle just slide up into the small hole or does the spring clip get attached to the small metal piece on the float?" Yes and it points towards the air filter. Clean the holes out in the bowl nut very well.
