You mower should be shaft drive from engine to transmission. The shaft is under a plastic cover. Should rotate all the time engine is running. With cover off you can pull through recoil starter and shaft should rotate either 1/2 speed or 1/4 speed.

If shaft isn't turning, the output from engine has probably failed. I have had several where the stub from the engine broke where it is drilled for the pin. May not be economic to fix. $40 or so for parts, and upwards of $100 labor. Engine is otherwise OK, but you can't use it on anything else because crankshaft is machined for BBC and won't accept conventional fixed blade hub.

On the other hand, if input to transmission turns OK, but nothing happens, now you have problems internal to transmission. Replacing transmission is do-it-yourself job, but new tranny is about$190.

Thanks for the reply. No, the shaft from the engine does not turn. Is it repairable though?. It might be worth it to me....I bought the unit for $150.00......other than that problem, its a great mower. Let me know what you think.
