Mower won't start

I have a craftsman 6.5 hp mower with a Briggs&Stratton engine that won't start. My son hit something while cutting the lawn and sheared the flywheel key and I replaced it. After the replacement, the mower still won't start. I've checked the spark plug to see if it was firing and it was. I put a new plug in anyway. I've changed the air filter, replaced the fuel and cleaned the carb. Nothing found when I took the bowl off of the carb. I have been reading other posts and I think this forum is great so I am asking for some help with this issue.
Thanks to anyone who can provide some assistance.

Kevin

What's strange is that the fuel system wouldn't be affected by a sheered key. Did you torque the flywheel back down to at least 35 fp? Was there even a slight attempt to start? Is there fuel in the bowl? Loosen the bowl nut until fuel drips out and retighten. If you didn't remove the coil, the gap should be OK.

The things people replace thinking it may help amazes me.

I expect the flywheel key is once again sheared because of improper installation.

Is the flywheel key sheared again? They are cheap so try replacing it again. Because a sudden impact stopped the engine my next thought is that the crank and cam are out of sync from jumping a tooth.
