| Hi to all,
I am currently restoring an engine form a 1965 TORO FLYMO. It is a Tecumseh T633-58A 4520180. The only problem I have is with the cylindrical steel gas tank. It has some pinholes due to rust. I tried to solder up the holes, but this just revealed more holes. I think it would be better to use one of those gas tank sealers the you slosh around in the tank and let dry/cure. Does anyone have any experience with this type of product?

| Sounds like that tank is beyond repair. If it starts leaking during use your project could go up in flames. Motorcycle shops often use sealants like you suggest but the tank needs to be thoroughly cleaned beforehand. |

| On my BMWs, I have repaired the tanks successfully with JB Weld. I spend about 8 hrs spread out over a week to do it. Wire brush all the rust off, shoot the bright metal with brake cleaner, then coat with mixed up JB Weld. Let it cure 24 hrs then test with water. |

| Put rocks in tank turn tank many time so rocks have chance to brake a lose rust inside add water to wash rock and wash out rust 3 time shack rinse if third time water comes out clean you done if any rust in water repet. Half full rocks clean faster than smaller amount. then clean rocks out clean rust and paint off outside jb weld holes and big area beyond holes. Clean are replace rusted cap check any steel fitting to see they need rust drilled if clean up good should be no rust power to off set float needle. |
