I have a Bolen's Riding Mower Model #13AM662G765, Briggs and Stratten 15.5HP 38"cut and it is approx 6 yrs old. The battery was replaced in April 2010, and I have started having problems with it starting. It will go thunk, it may turn a 1/4 turn if that. If I put the charger on it, it will start. The battery was taken back to Walmart and rechecked and it was fine. I am stuck at a loss because I do not know what is wrong with it. All connections to everything are clean and tight. I can hear a click when I turn the key on it. I keep reading about fuses, could that be what is wrong,I have no ideal on their location. All fluids in are okay. The spark plug has been changed on it along with the oil and air filters. I have to add that after it's been running for awhile ie.. cutting grass and go out and and it will start right up. If it sits for a couple of days that's when I have the problems. It's like the battery is not staying charged but all things say that its fine.

"It will go thunk, it may turn a 1/4 turn if that. If I put the charger on it, it will start" While there can be other causes, the valves needing adjusted are the most common cause of these symptoms in your engine. I have detailed instructions for adjusting the valves IF you would like them. Address below, put in proper format. Walt Conner

It's like its possessed, Last night it would not start at all, just the thunk noise, so this morning I went outside to make sure all the connections were all clean and tightened again. I put the key in the ignition, knowing good and well that it would not start and poof, it started right up. I cut the grass and it's started again since then. Whatever is wrong with it I have no clue. I don't have the money to have a expert come over and tell me that it wont start, I already know that. Any clues or help would be appreciated. It runs fine when it's running.
