| I am considering fixing my John Deere's blade brake clutch instead of buying a new machine. Someone from the forum said that I could find that part for $100 on the internet.
The mower place quoted me $200 to repair it. Could you give me some advice please? |

| I think you need to know what clutch version your machine has- tho they may cross to a common #. In fact, some have clutches that are servicable. Just be sure before you order is all I'm saying. Changing the clutch isn't a huge deal. |

| How do I find out what clutch version it has? |

| Compare to the parts lists. You could try disassembling it. What do you have to lose? Is it seized or not engaging? |
Here is a link that might be useful: Deere parts

| You need to know which one (JD Part Number) you need as tomplum states (the website he links is where to find that info). There is a used one on Ebay right now with no bids for $19.99 and a new one for the JX75 for $85 (GY20805). If you can't find it online check to see what you can get the part for at your dealer to see if it is worth your time to replace it yourself. |

| How do you stop the flywheel from turning to get the center screw out of the BBC? |

| Rick, you are entering the advanced world of DIY. Are you prepared for air compressor ownership ? As for me, I cannot live without one. Rather than pay the high parts and labor prices, I think most end up in a "graveyard".. A vicious circle, sadly. Perhaps a better design would help. |
