| I am a complete neophyte when it comes to lawn mowers. Inherited one from father in law which had been sitting around for 2 years. Worked for 5 minutes then died. Neighbor told me to get some carb spray which I did. Sprayed it, white smoke came out and it worked fine. Mowed the lawn like 3 times and then last week ran out of gas. Filled up and it began sputtering. Finally died and was not able to start again. Neighbor again recommended some gas stuff. Bought that put in and before i could test, cord broke. Finally fixed that today. Starts ok but as soon as I switch from choke to Fast on throttle, dies out. BTW- this is a Honda 215HXA. Any help in Lawnmowers for Dummies variety would be appreciated. |

| It seems as though that the carb will need to be cleaned. You may luck out and only need to drop the bowl, clean that area, take the straw from a jet spray carb cleaner and work it up into the very center of the stem and spray. Of course, it is good to know that the fuel getting to the carb is clean and fresh. Should further cleaning be required, they can be a bit tricky to remove, clean and reassemble if you are questioning your mechanical ability. If you go further, watch closely how gaskets and links come off. There is a small jet that unscrews in that center stem and a tube that you shake/ push out to clean. Or new carbs are really quite affordable as well. |
