CMM1000 strange cut off

My CMM1000 has started to just cut out randomly after about 15 minutes of mowing my lawn. It is almost like there is a safety sensor which just cuts out the motor. The machine stops for 30 seconds, there is a click and then i can use it again. The more I use it the shorter and shorter periods between cutting out. To complete the lawn probably takes 5-10 cut outs and the neighbors are fed up of hearing me cursing the machine.

The battery light is well in the green and I faithfully keep it charged when not in use.

I have found that raising the blades as high as they will go prolongs the time which the mower will go before cuting out but this does not do wonders for my lawn (forest).

Does anyone know if there is a safety sensor on the machine? What causes it to trigger and how can I fix it so that it just lets me cut my lawn.

Sounds like it has a temperature switch on the motor that is tripping from overheating. (safety) Could be defective or perhaps it is overheating.

It could be a combination of things.
1. It's SPRING! Grass is growing faster and is moister. Tougher to mulch.
2. Your blades are probably duller than last year. Tougher to mulch.
3. your battery is probably a bit weaker than a year ago, resulting in a bit more Voltage drop. Less Volts means you need more Amps.
Is the deck clean underneath?
The combination is probably causing a thermal overload.

I start to have the same problem with my 6 yrs old CMM1000. It runs for about 5-15 mins then cut off. Then it will cut off about every two passes of mowing (mulching or bagging). I noticed it will cut off less when the battery is in the lower green? I replaced the battery last year. The brushes are replaced this year to try to solve the problem but it is still there. I measure the battery voltage and they are about 13.4 V each. Battery is not a problem since the gage is always in the green. I even strap five CPU heat sinks around the motor casing (with thermal grease) in attempt make it run cooler but the problem still there. I mow every 5 to 7 days. My blade is always sharp as I sharpen it every 4 cuts. Looking back, I think the problem started when I change to the new battery. I wonder if changing the motor will help. It is costly however.

Same here. BUT replaced the wornout circuit breaker ($10 at B&D) and it works great. Old breaker was 2-1/2 years old.
