Raising my older Murray deck.

I have just purchased a Murray 42614x92a and the deck is only mowing 2 or 3 inches high on it's highest setting (6). The mower did not come with a manual and I've been unable to find one online. I was hoping someone out there could help me find a way to raise the deck so I can get some height. It's too low to even drive from the grass to the road!
TIA!

Your IPL is available below. It looks though yours has 2 pitch adjusting rods and the cantalever on one side to level the deck. Air the tires and be precise in your measurement on a level concrete floor and you will thank yourself. Good to know the blades aren't tweaked down as well.

Here is a link that might be useful: parts listing

thank you tomplum, I was able to identify the parts you listed on the diagram you linked to, but I am not very mechanically inclined. I probably need instructions on what exactly needs to be done to raise it.
Those rods move up and down within those slots when the lever is moved up and down to raise and lower the deck. I thought if they were stationary at the bottom of the slot it would make a difference, but I was unable to find a way to make them stationary.
As it is now the deck sits on the ground when the adjustment lever is in 1-3. It really needs a good amount of height to raise it up where it needs to be.
Thanks

Ok, in my last post I was talking about two different parts. LOL It's too late for mechanical talks!
The parts you identified are not moving up and down in any slots, so forget that I said that.
What I was referring to are the pieces that go into the slot in part 29 and part 22.
I have no idea how to alter part 20 to make the deck raise higher, but it only has about 1/2" of incline so even making it perfectly horizontal wouldn't result in much additional height. I feel like the grass should be cut at about 6" on the highest setting and two inches on the lowest. It's currently cutting it under an inch tall on the highest setting.

Look closer at the lift arm (deck handle that you grab w/ your hand) itself. Sometimes the weld lets go on these.

RE: weld

I checked out the lift arm and I don't see any welding on there. It looks like everything is held together with bolts.

About all you can do is look over the arm for structural issues. As the arm is bolted to the lift assy, is it possible to change the position by changing how it is bolted? One would hope you could get 3" out of it. Many riders 3 1/2 -4" is the max. 6 on the index doesn't equate to 6"s. Most Murrays could do all of that- but yours is set up like a rear engine rider and not a lot of variance. Maybe the ground is just real high where you live....
