I have no Idea of what the model number is because the the sticker is missing It has a Suzuki 4 stroke. Its a 3 speed BBC. Mulch , bag, or side discharge. Built circa 1990. I picked it up from Craiglist free stuff. Turned out to be less than a mile away. This was when I was on hiatus between surgery and chemo in the fall of 09. I wanted a project. It wasnt much of a project. It looked shabby. The red enamel is falling off the aluminum deck. A 5/16 shoulder bolt that holds the wheel adjuster to the deck was missing and a 1/4 bolt was loosely holding in its place. I have an early Toro 3 spd out back of the shop. It was a struggle but, I harvested the bolt I needed. A shop would probably have charged me 3$ for this bolt. Thats was all it needed. Sure, I cleaned the air filter, changed the oil and sharpened the blade. Here is the cool part, it starts on the first pull. I havent had to mess with anything. The owner bought it new, and was conscientious about maintenance. I was dealing with the misses. They had gone out and bought a brand new mower. I dont know what they bought. but I doubt they will get the same service as the GTS.

To be fair, the "GTS" is just a gimmick. I mean Toro put the "GTS" label on Tecumseh engines that have turned out to be junk. That mower you have however, is a superior mower. The Suzuki 2 stroke will probably be running perfect when the wheels fall off as long as you use clean gas mix. Nice find!

I agree. I have the same suzuki gts 4 stroke and had the chance to run it side by side with the briggs quantum. Both mowers had bbc and self propel. The gts by far had more power and ran smoother. Gave the quantum to my nephew. He is happy. Peace

I was unaware that Suzuki built 4-strokes. I thought all Suzuki's were 2-stroke. Some consider the Suzuki 2-stroke the best lawn mower engine ever made. However, I understand two weak spots, the coil and carb, have become very hard to get and real pricey.

I was given 3 commercial mowers, two weren't worth fixing, and I kept the 3rd on, a Suzuki 2-stroke Toro. It looks in pretty good shape and judging by what I'm reading here, I guess I picked the right one to save.

Around this neck-of-the-woods 2-stroke mowers were always popular with LCO's because they held up well on slopes of which there are many. Most used commercial Lawnboys, but the Toro commercial with the 2-stroke Suzuki is legendary. If I recall correctly they sold for over $1000. in the early '90's. Many LCO's put thousands of hours on them with no engine repairs.
