Most lawnboys I have seen and all that I have owned simply had a decal with the model number, serial number, and a corporate hq address. I have seen photos of earlier models that actually say "made in USA" on this sticker. Which models stated this? I kind of wonder why Lawnboy didn't put this on all models, surely wouldn't hurt their market share! I am a really disappointed that the new green Toro LB's are assembled in Mexico. Also, like many LB enthusiasts here...if they still had the staggered wheel deck in aluminum, but put a Briggs motor on it, I would have already bought one.

I would not be surprised to find some non-USA components on those mowers branded as "Made in USA". The rules governing country of origin labeling are notoriously opaque. Not that country or origin labeling will tell you annyting about the quality of a given mower. The reputation of a specific mower manufacturer is a far better guide.

I'm not happy about so much being manufactured offshore, but fugure I may as well get used to it. Almost any manufacturer anywhere (yes even China) can build a quality product if they want to and are being paid enough to do so. Never is a long time, but I don't think you'll ever see a new staggered wheel lawnboy again. A lot of people don't like the staggered wheel design perferring one with wheels at the 4 corners, because that is all they've ever owned.
|
Heck, I would ever consider a non-staggered deck lawnboy with briggs as long as the deck was aluminum. Particularly if they used the non-staggered deck that was on some of their commercial models. Anyway, my question still remains unanswered... which series Lawnboys actually stated "made in USA" on the sticker?
