Toro 20383 side charge

I am considering buying a Toro 20383 mower with the blade stop. I never mulch, mainly side discharge and bag. I am concerned that the recycler blade that comes with the machine with not scatter the clippings like I want. The dealer refuses to let me "test drive" the mower at his store. (Ace hardware) Does anyone have a similar issue about bagging and side discharge with a recycler blade or know of an after market Hi-lift blade for a Toro? Thanks.

When rhe side chute is open grass clippings will definitely come flying out. The blade is spinning at over 3,000 rpm so the grass won't stay under deck for long. I am not clear on what sort of scatter pattern you are looking for.

I agree with roadbike I have recycler blades on my Kuboata ZD331 and it has no problems slinging clippings several feet away.

roadbike, I'm not looking for any scatter pattern, I just don't want lines of grass clippings while I mow. Also I want to have enough vacuum to put all the clippings in the bag. I now use an older Snapper walk behind with a hi-lift blade. It really scatters the clippings from the side chute. I'm also a little P.O. at the dealer for not letting me see how the mower does. $600 is a lot to spend on a walk behind mower.

Because all the grass clippings are exiting to the side it is inevitable that they will be deposited in a line as the mower moves forward. Frequent cutting and remowing will minimize the lines. To minimize lines of cut grass just use the mower as a mulcher. I've side mowed with several different machines and I think your expectations are not attainable.

I guess I'll have to keep my old Snapper with the Hi-lift blade for side discharging. I had a Toro 26682 2-cycle bag only mower that came with a hi-lift "bagger blade". It was like a vacuum and really packed the bag with the clippings. I hate change.
