I lost bolt 13 (so numbered in manual on the ground drive diagram)and washers too. I have a Craftsman LT1000 mdl 917.271653 but from searching web with bolt model number it also appears in manuals for Western Auto and Weed Eater riding lawn mowers.

This is the most detail I have been able to get so far from different places.

American Yard Products

13 74550412 Bolt 1/4-28 unf Gr. 8 w/Patch

14 10040400 Washer Lock Hvy Helical 1/4

112 19091210 Washer 9/32 X 3/4 X 10 Ga

11 105701X Washer Plate Shf 388 Sq Hole

Someone else is working on the transmission and has it with them (so I cannot take it try different sizes) and I would prefer they not know I lost the stuff. Though I think the wife moved it.

Anyone know the lenght of the bolt 74550412 Bolt 1/4-28 unf Gr. 8 w/Patch. We will work on it again monday and I don't want to pay $30 to overnight from someplace nor do I know it will arrive early enough Mon to help.

Thanks to anyone that knows the lenght.

That cap screw is common on many AYP/Electrolux/Craftsman lawn tractors with manual transmission. I believe it is 1/4-28 x 1/2 long. I'm not sure why it needs to be a Grade 8.

You should be able to get commercial hardware (Grade 5 or better) and use as a substitute. You can also use Loctite on the threads if you can't find with Nyloc patch.

Suggest you get commercial hardware (1/2" and 3/4") just to cover your bases and secure with Loctite. In meantime order the correct part and you should be able to easily replace at a later date. Factory part number 74550412 is broadly available on Web for about $3.00.
