I have a Toro 20622 w/ Suzuki engine and it hasn't had the anti-scalp cup since i've owned it. It has a single blade and something they call a "stiffening blade" below it, but the plastic anti-scalp cup is missing.

Is it neccesary? I mow at 3.0"... am I in any way scalping anything without it?!
