| Hi,
My sons cub cadet lawn mower quit while he was in the prcess of cutting his grass. So dad to the rescue. I checked the spark and it is good. The engine is getting lots of fuel ( Wet spark plug) Checked compression and there is NONE. I tried to remove the tin camshaft cover to check the cam to see if we had valve action, but stopped because I did not want to destroy this tin plate. Can anyone tell me how the cam is driven? Is it via a belt? Where is this belt located? Does anyone have any service manual pics on the camshaft and how it is driven? How about pics and instructions for adjusting valve timing? Any help would be appreciated. Even a link to a free online electronic service manual for this engine would be appreciated. Thanks in advance |

| Yes, the tin plate is easy to bend, but normally can be re-used. In fact, look for a dent in the cover that could have come from hitting the deck etc. One seems to pop up every once in a while. With the cover dented- the valve cannot completely close. HAs a timing belt that requires teardown- but it is more likely you will see what is happening with the cover removed. |

| Sounds like a valve is stuck open. If it just stopped while running I suspect that he hit something that bent the cover and is holding a valve open. |

| Many who deal with that thin valve cover opt to replac e it with this from a GSV series: http://www.2lcstore.com/catalog/item/1358865/7656740.htm |
