Buy new or used

Just wondering if I should buy used and get a higher quality mower or new and a smaller less quality mower? What is a quality brand mower now days? I rent my home so I'm not sure how long we will be staying at the house but, we have 1-2 acres to mow and the yard is very uneven, rutted and wet. I've looked at a used Huskee , White and Husquavarna and They all seem to run good But if I go new I will have some guarantee with it.

In your situation a good used mower might be the best investment. I have been fortunate in finding a used white with a briggs 5.5 Quantum engine which provided over 5 yrs service prior to upgrade to a New Toro Recycler last summer.
I think I paid $60.00 bucks for it from a Buddy of mine who
as I do picks up used units and reconditions them when time permits .

I was really looking for a used one but I've got burn on one not to long ago. I see Lowes has a troy built for $999 I can get a 10% off coupon which would make it around $899. I also have been looking at the Ariens 960160027. Home depot has them for $999 and I see they see for less than that online new.
