Honda HRX217 wheel adjustments

I am having a great deal of trouble adjusting the rear wheel height on my HRX217. It has been this way since new. It is so tight that, in order to raise or lower a rear wheel, I have strike the wheel with a rubber mallet while holding the adjuster tab out. I have lubed it many times and this helps just a little and very temporarily. Is there something else I can loosen or adjust to make it raise and lower easier? The front wheels work fine.

The only thing I can suggest (if you're not doing it already) is to raise the side of the mower you are adjusting off the ground to get the weight of the mower off the wheel.

Mine is not quite as bad as yours but it is still pretty annoying.

I have the same mower and experience the same difficulty. I have even grease the mating surfaces. Not sure what the issue is.

Remove the wheels and oil the bushing assemblies where the shaft goes through on both sides. The part numbers are
42940-VE2-802 and
42930-VE2-802.
Usually you will experience that it is also hard to pull backwards.
This is because the output shaft is hanging up on this assembly. This unit needs to rotate to change the height.
