The tangential discharge of the offset-wheel Lawn-Boy provides the highest velocity but the decks have a stiffener bar across the bottom of the chute that always starts the clogging effect with tall/wet grass. Aside from that, I guess most any multi-purpose mower today with the discharge chute attached does a good job, but the rear-discharge chute set-up for a Honda mower works a lot better than it seems like it should. It's a large 90-degree chute that throws the clippings to the left from a greater height than any side-discharge set-up and disperses the clippings over a greater area, even wet grass. When I had my Honda HRB216TDA and got myself into trouble with tall, wet grass during off-and-on rainy weather, the discharge chute saved my bacon with it's wide dispersal and non-clogging action. The chute also has a steel guard inside to protect the operator from any ejected objects. Even with my 2004-2007 4-cycle LB 'Insight'-style mowers with side discharge, I typically will not have to bag or rake after the clippings dry because there are no clumps or windrows. I'll just mulch as I normally would the next cut and what clippings that were visible just disappear. I don't know if any other rear-discharge mowers have the Honda-type discharge chute set-up.
