Lawn Boy Wont Start

I own a lawn boy self propelled walk behind mower model 10323. It has been a great mower and very reliable to start at first pull and worked fine last week. I cannot get it to start or attempt to start. I have fire at the plug as I tested this by grounding it out to my hand. I changed the plug with new plug. Fuel is good and its getting fuel. The air filter is clean. The kill switch is also working such that it is opening when safety bail is pulled. What should I check next?

Rusty : You have not stated if Compression has been tested ! I also did not identify if it is 4-cycle ? If so sudden loss of usable compression could be attributed to a partially Stuck Valve . If 2-Stroke loss of compression could be life cycle related worn rings or if sudden a head gasket leak .

The 10323 is a 2 cycle. you probably have a bad module. Using your hand to check for spark won't tell you if there is enough voltage to fire the plug. There might be a low voltage generated (say 1000 volts) which you will feel but won't fire the plug. Look to see a spark at the plug.

Rusty I assume you meant grounded the spark plug by hand to the head . If you actually meant to ground into your hand your a rough dude lol . I doubt the Ignition Module / Coil is effective as advised by Bogman if the latter is was your intent . You should identify a Bright Blue Spark anything yellow or dull is suspect .

Rusty, like they said it is probably the CD pack. They go bad on 2-cycle Lawn-Boys frequently.

You can say that again---ONLY after the one that came with the mower goes!
My OEM lasted 25 years! Now the part (module) that you have to get to replace it with lasts from 2-5 years. I am on my 4th one now since the 25 year one went.
I LOVE that machine compared to what's out there now so I am going to try to keep er going as long as I can being it starts with one pull so easy and has the staggered wheels.

Darn, wish someone had of told me that 65 years ago! That is the way I really tell if the spark is good or not. As for original CDIs and replacements, I have had many original ones go in a year or two.
