In my opinion Stens and Oregon make good aftermarket parts.

Just so you know, most pistons and rings sets etc that are aftermarket are made in Taiwan I've noticed.

I use alot of Stens parts. Some of their O rings are questionable in the presence of gas. They swell, where original equipment doesn't.

Taiwan has come a long way in quality products. In my lifetime, Japan was junk after the war and look at what they offer now. Taiwan can produce quality items. China can too, but try to find them....

I have used Stens parts for over 30 years I guess. Mostly their products are good. Several years ago, I had problems with some of their Lawn Boy gaskets, fiber type, they apparently were stamped out wet and shrank when dry. Since I had them sometime before I noticed the problem, I didn't try to get an adjustment and never ordered anymore of those gaskets from them. I have gotten adjustments on other items. Their service has generally be very fast, accurate and courteous.

Like any place, they have some items of questionable quality. I have used LB, B&S and Kohler rings, pistons, seals, rods and more with no complaints.

Rotary seems to be decent. Will be installing their piston with Toro/LB rings real quick. Can someone explain the difference in rings? Where the stockers look to be a chrome-moly and the replacements a "black" cast iron type.?

Cast iron were the standard as they broke in nicely and didn't wear out the cylinder.

Most of Stens is o.k but I shy away from using their internal engine, ignition, or carb parts. I have run into too many failures and do not like to do the time consuming jobs twice. IMHO, OEM may cost a little more initially but is a bargain in the long run.
