Honda Lawn mower will not cut in long or wet grass.

I have a honda lawn mower, HRX217HXA, 6.5 horsepower. When I engage the blades they start to turn slowly and then come to speed. They will cut if I am in dry relatively short grass, but if the grass is wet or long the blades bog down and stop turning. I have adjusted the cable as far as I can but it did not help. I have increased the rpms with little change. What can I do next?

Sounds like the blade clutch is slipping. I'm not really familiar with the Honda BBC, so maybe someone else will chime in.
