Hi everyone I've been reading through versions posts on this forum and I've noticed that there a lot of people that seem to know about reel mowers.

I recently aquired a Mclane 20" 5 blade reel mower with a 3hp B & S engine, it runs and everything seems to be in place beside that it needs some tlc.

I am in desparate need of help locating information for the mower and the engine:
Got these #'s off the engine 81332 0251 01 6706273 ...... But I couldn't find any model # or marking for the mclane reel mower

Any info or help is greatly appreciated.

You've got an older one. Based upon the engine numbers, it is a 1967. You won't find anything on the mower, because McLane doesn't use serial numbers.

You can get an Illustrated Parts List by going to the Briggs & Stratton website and going to the manuals page. Enter the model and type number as 081332-0251-99. If you go to McLane's website and query "manuals" you should be able to find a PDF of their current 20" & 25" mowers. You'll have to use common sense to figure which parts will still relate to your machine. Obviously others have changed, and after almost 50 years, may be NLA.

Somebody has butchered the throttle and governor assembly. You will probably need new linkage, springs, and maybe governor blade. The IPL mentioned above should tell you what you need. Good news is that all parts should be available, either from an authorized Briggs dealer or on the internet.
