Certainly a possibility , the LB 2-Strokes were prone to this issue . How is the fuel & spark , immediately after
the issue occurs . I had the same issue with a Chainsaw this Yr and it was the Coil / Ignition Module . When I checked the fuel the Plug would be wet and a Weak Yellow (Not Blue) was evident when I grounded out the Plug . Replace the electrics and all was fine .

I have to agree, after posting my thoughts were the coil. I will clean all the contact points and bake the coil in the oven and hopefully that will do the trick if not another 2-cycle lawnboy in the scrap yard.

Never do that, the problem is something simple.

Baking the Coil sometimes assists with validating a weak coil Rolm , never hurts but normally never last long after a damp spell. Even if the Coil is determined to be NFG why deep six the LB . Heck my 35 + yr. Old Saw had replacement Ignition Modules available . CG or Rusty or Ole Walt Probably have a few kicking around c/w Points and Condenser if it's an older model .
