old 3.5 briggs

| i have a old 3.5hp briggs with horizional shaft. on the carb it has a long pick up tube and a short one that goes in a small bowl on the tank. whats the small one for? in my tank the small bowl came out. will that make a diffrence? thanks |

| The fuel is picked by the long tube and fed into the small bowl. The short tube then picks up fuel as needed to feed the engine. |

| Did you remove the small bowl? Or, did it fall out? Those tanks are hard to find, in any good kind of shape. New ones are rather expensive! Probably a Pulsa-jet Carburetor. Fuel pump gaskets are still available. Might be a good idea to install a new one. Watch how you take the old one out, watch how the spring and cup and pump diaphragm go back in. Get it wrong, and you'll pull yer arm off, trying to start it! |

| i took out the small bowl and dont have it anymore. is there anything i can do to make it work? |

Yep: buy a tank from Yukkel. I don't know where else you might find one, although somebody here might have one, besides Yukkel. And, why did you take out the small bowl? Or, was it loose in the tank? Didn't it occur to you that just maybe it was designed to be in there?! (Sort of like taking the gears out of a clock, and then wondering why it won't work----) |
