clake: I believe your correct on the Mix Ratio recommended back in the day . There has been quite a debate on the forum for yrs on LB Oil vs current Newer oils and Ratio's .
I will just offer buy the Best Oil you can afford and mix thoroughly !

Yes, your Lawnboy has a D601 engine made in either 1975 or 1976. 32:1 is the proper ratio for the oil for all Lawnboys newer than around 1970.

I have a 7022/D-433 LB push that seems to need something. Repairman says compression is too low for it to run. What are the options for this? I only bought it (new) in 1972-3 and thought I'd get more service from it. I don't want a new mower. I like this one. Thanks--

A couple of comments here. Turn the flywheel backwards, counter clockwise, until you feel a little compression (hopefully) flip the flywheel clockwise and see if it hits compression and rebounds. No resistance when turning backwards OR no rebound, not enough compression.

One thing you want to remember, most "repairmen" do not and never did like to work on LBs so if you are serious about restoring, rely on yourself and people here who want to preserve LBs.

New pistons and rings are still available. IF the cylinder is not scored or not scored too badly, you can probably salvage it.
