Snowblower-Second Gear Box

I'm preparing my snowblower for the coming winter, and

sweating my butt off doing it. It is a Husqvarna model

#7-23, which I purchased new in November of 2000,

(soon after my snowshoveler went off to college).

On the left hand side, (as you look from the operators

position), under the 'plate' is another gear box, which

has a cast aluminum housing and looks like it transfers

the spin of the shaft that the rubber drive wheel is on,

to the wheel axle. The only openings to this case is

a hole on the outside of the sheet metal, that is approx.

1.5 in. in diameter and is plugged by a rubber plug.

Gears are visible through the hole. What kind of lubricant

is used in this gear case? Thank you for your time.

I could not find that model on their website. You should check the Husqvarna website for a manual and parts list and contact customer service.

UPDATE: I went to the Husqvarna web site and sent them
my question, using their 'Contact Us' tab. Within minutes
I got an automated reply: "Your question has been received.
You should expect a response from us within the next 24 hours". That was on August 12, 2010. Here it is August
22nd and still no answer. I dont see anymore Husqvarna
purchases by me in the forseeable future.

There are two Mind Sets on the Proper Gear Case Lubricant . (1) Light Marine Grade Hypoid 80 . (2) Heavy Duty Transmissions Fluid . I have seen where the Seal leakage was a issue Moly Grease utilized which has Moisture dispersant's . I was going to suggest you contact the Local Dealer , but being over ten yrs old Warranty is not an issue . You make the call since you know your Winter Temperature Range the Best .
