Craftsman with Honda GCV-160 No Spark

Working on a Craftsman 21" mulcher with a Honda GCV-160 for a friend.

He was having intermittent trouble keeping it running so he replaced the carburetor with a new carb. It would stall and die after a few seconds of run-time. Now it does not start at all.

I have a Honda with the same engine and I noticed he is not getting any spark.

I have swapped his coil and spark plug with my known good ones, and they work just fine.

I cannot reach the kill switch on mine (it is behind the air cleaner box and I would have to remove the throttle assembly to get it) to swap it out. Is it likely that the kill switch is a problem? I have tried starting with the kill switch wire attached and not attached, with no success. Mine will start with or without the kill switch wire attached.

Everything else checks out on this mower, I have gapped the coil properly. Can't figure out why there is no spark at all from a good coil on a fairly new mower.
