I know It's 90F Snow Blower Question

I can pick-up a nice solid 8-HP 26-Inch Craftsman snow blower with a blown engine. The engine is a Dual shaft Tec engine. Can I install a single shaft engine in its place. I can pick-up a NEW chinese 7-HP clone engine for under $200 Forget the cost of a new Dual Shaft Tec engine that is if they are available.

If you are mechanically inclined, why not buy a Tecumseh short block. It's about $200 and not a POS.

I just picked up a Nice HS-828 Honda from my Buddy with a Fresh Chineese "Clone" $300.00 Canadian .. Sweet Deal . I Hope you can adapt your Blower also Rolm within Economic Reasoning Friend !

My question is! Can the Dual shaft Tec engine be replaced with a single shaft engine. Thanks

I've never seen anything but a single shaft engine used in a snowblower. What does each shaft do?

If it is like the old Ariens I have, the answer is not easily. The main shaft drives the auger and the auxillary shaft is responsible for the drive wheels. I am sure it would be possible to weld, grind, modify and re-pulley so a single shaft engine could be used, but not easily. I watched ebay for almost two years to find a replacement for my 5 hp Ariens. I like the short block solution. Good luck!

Have you checked Small Engine Warehouse Rolm ? Otherwise you have a lot of Reverse Engineering to accomplish what you intend , other than whats has been already advised ?
