The lawn mower starts fine but the blades do not engage and so it does not cut the grass. What should I do? I really, really need this lawnmower. Thanks a lot,
Is this a lawn tractor, or is it a walk-behind lawn mower? If you ride on it--it is a lawn tractor. If you push it, or if it is self-propelled and you walk behind it--it is a lawn mower. Finding out what the difference is, will help us figure out what your problem is, without going thru the whole web-site to find out what type of mower you have! Please advise! Rusty j
This is an oldie. Unfortunately your options are few. Does the control feel as though that there is tension on it? Basically, the control w/ cable is still serviceable, the lower spring at the clutch is still serviceable- but the clutch is not. It is no longer available- from Sears anyhow. I would think that the spring is a return spring. If you can (with the mower off) tip the mower with the air filter up and look if the cable is actuating the clutch or not - it would be a place to start.
