Toro Recycler Spin Stop

Is it possible to by-pass the spin stop and run the blade directly off the engine? I have eaten up two belts already and as I live in Sri Lanka the postage is getting to me for replacements. I think the idea is swell as a safety feature but I promise to be careful.

Physically I wouldn't think it possible unless you replaced the crankshaft or engine complete w/ hub. So from a cost standpoint and certainly in regards to safety- order the belts 3 at a time. Though I would have to think there is a mechanical issue with the clutch as these don't normally eat belts. Model number?
