Craftsman Eager-1 tank cleaning/running rough

I have an engine model 143.986700. I have replaced the carb. I want to clean and flush the gas tank. Looking for a process to remove and clean the tank. How do you remove the tank? After replacing the carb with a new one, the mower is still running rough. It didn't run at all prior to replacing the carb. I cleaned the spark plug. Haven't replaced that yet. The mower has had less than proper care. Thanks for advice in removing the tank.

The tank is mounted on the mower housing with slots and tabs.Just pull back on the tank a little not to much, then pull straight up.You will see the slots on the housing and the plastic groves on the tank where it slides back on the housing.Hope this helps.
