Hello, I'm new to the forum, and come seeking some advice. I have a 2 year old Craftsman pressure washer model 580.988400 with a 6.75 hp Ready Start B&S engine.
My father in law was using it, and I heard him allowing it to run at full throttle for almost a minute without spraying. Shortly after he started spraying again the motor abruptly shut down---went from wide open to stop in a milli second. The engine block was very hot. After cooling, we attempted to start the engine, but all it would do is run very rough, and at really low rpm, and smoke a little, and then shut down in a few seconds. I detached the pump from the engine to see if the pump was causing the problem, but it still ran the same way.
So, my question is--Do any of you know what damage might have been done to the engine?
