Can you help identifying a 2001 Craftsman

I'm about to make a purchase on a 2001 Craftsman but the owner doesn't have the manual and I didn't see a model number on it. Here's a description:

Garage-kept.
It's hunter green.
19.5 HP Opposing Twin Briggs engine ("Turbo Cooled")
42" Deck w/deck wheels
Separate throttle and choke
Quiet operation kit
6 Speed Hydrostat tranny

That's about it. If anyone has a clue as to what model this might be and roughly what it might have originally sold for, I'd appreciate it.

I don't have the model number for a 2001. The 917.270821 is a 1998 model that fits your description.

I believe 2001 was the last year for the old opposed twin.

Thanks. He says he bought it for $1700. Does that sound about right? Either way, I got it for $250.

BTW, what makes you think it is a '98 model? Just curious.

the 1998 design may have continued into 2001. I don't know for sure if this is the case. To further help in determining the year built, look at the engine numbers that are on top of the engine. The code identifies the date the engine was built (year/month/day/details).
