They are right. Everything is working except the starter gear is not engaging the flywheel.

Sounds like the Bendix drive is not engaging . Ensure you have good clean and tight connections so that proper voltage is reaching the starter motor.

That's the very same noise I here when Donna calls.... Either the drive itself is worn or the battery cables are switched side to side.
