lowe's riding lawn mower

I have a Lowe's riding lawn mower and it will not start using the key/switch. If I connect jumper cables to my car and connect the other side to the solenoid/body it will crank just fine.

Incidentally, it will turn off using the key/switch.

Any help?

Thanks!
Shane

Sounds like either the solenoid or the switch is bad.

or your valve lash is out of spec an dthe battery can't overcome the compression. or you have a bad battery. could also be that you left hte PTO on an dthe safety prevents cranking. but it may or may not prevent actual running depending on how old the machien is and if all the safeties are still intact.

you question does not give us enough info. actual model numbers would help tremendously.

You have a safety that is not satisfied.
Try sitting on the mower everything disengaged and try again.

I use an ohm-meter and a needle(to pierce the wire insulation)to isolate shorts and opens.
A fine section of copper wire as a temporary "fuse" may work, depending...
