The blade nut loosens normally. CCW = OFF

All motors gas and electric. The direction is determined from the back or behind the shaft.
So, all lawn mowers go clockwise.
I always use a impact wrench. It makes life easier.
Yes CCW is the right way to loosen.
If the engine was going counterclockwise it would loosen the blade bolt.

I think you guys missed something....He is turning the bolt CW and it keeps on turning. How many turns did you make? Turn CCW to remove but check your bolt threads.

Sounds to me like the bolt is stripped in the shaft.
Maybe get a helper and have them pull one side of the blade towards you allowing pressure from the blade against the bolt head. Then YOU can slowly attempt to loosen the bolt with a box wrench or socket and turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE in an attempt to have the bolt back out from the stripped threads.

successfully removed the retaining nut(turned CCW) and blade. Just needed to let the nut soak in some PB Blaster first then some patience and perseverance until it finally broke free.
