| I'm in a bind, it appears the filter in my tank has been torn (I have NO idea how that could happen). I didn't see any other filer in the line so I'm assuming that's the only one.
I can replace the tank, but it's the weekend and my options are limited. I'm heading to Lowe's to see if they have more options than HD, but I'm unsure if adding an inline filter would be a good option. Anyone else have experience with filter issues? Thanks! |

| Clue: I assume you are referring to the fuel inlet filter screen within the fuel tank fill cap area ? Why not buy a new insert from your Dealer ? Secondary inline Fuel Filter and Manual Fuel Shutoff prior to the carb also is an excellent Secondary Proactive (Safety) choice Bro ! |

| I looked at adding an inline filter, but I was told by a few that there may not be enough of a draw to get the fuel through. I'm not sure if I believe that, but I also can't say it's a dumb concern. The filter isn't part of the cap, it's just a screen on at the bottom of the tank that appears to be heat fused with the tank. So, replacing isn't really an option. I was thinking about using some sort of "fuel friendly" epoxy to cover the area that's compromised, about 1/8" circular puncture near the far edge of the filter. If I could seal that with an epoxy that would stand up to the fuel the remainder of the filter can do its job. Thanks for the ideas. |

| Use a fuel filter with a micron rating for gravity feed engines and you'll be fine. Just find one that will fit in a section of your fuel line that you can cut and install it. |

| Don't go the epoxy route on an internal fuel leak repair scenario it will not last and will cause grief. Go the external inline fuel filter route and as advised by Orange a 150 Micron filter for your application should be similar to my B&S Quantum sizing . I believe the 75 Micron would compromise (restrict) fuel delivery on a gravity feed system. Note: Don't forget to install a manual shutoff while your at it upstream of the filter for positive shutoff for safety and filter replacement convenience . Good Luck |
