Transmission Parts Drawings

I recently bought a 4 year old Troy-Bilt 21" self-propelled mower (Model Series 830). The machine is in like new condition except the self-propelled function doesn't operate.
After contacting Troy-Bilt/MTD and investigating possible reasons for failure, I've narrowed the problem to the transmission itself.
Instead of spending $100+ for a new tranny on a mower that's worth ~$50, I'd rather rebuild it.
Where can I get a transmission part drawing?

Use their parts look up feature.Or the back of the manual. Hopefully you aren't caught to where the whole trans is only available. There is also an updated belt kit for these. 753-05089 Kit Post the whole model # from the deck if you need more help.

Here is a link that might be useful: MTD parts

Further in my notes if you find you have the 618-04378 trans, they don't service the parts and sell you a re-designed trans. Sounds like you may already know that part. No harm in tearing it apart to have a look. Money might be better spent elsewhere...

Also, often parts can be repaired or fabricated at a machine shop for less than the replacements cost.

For example, a specific bearing that is no longer manufactured might cost a small fortune.

But machining the pocket it goes into so a slightly larger and cheaper bearing fits it could cost much less including the 1/2 hour or so they might charge for machining.

Also, the local college should have a machine shop and you might get it done there for free!
