I am trying to fix a B&S Quantum 6 HP engine for my neighbor. I am having a problem with the throttle. I replaced the governor spring and when I connect the governor mechanical link to the carb, the throttle will not react to the control.
I set the tension on the spring to close the throttle when the control is in the stop position. I push the throttle control to run but when I push the control to stop, the throttle stays in the full open position, it does not return and the governor spring loses tension.
I noticed the governor lever at the rear of the engine and was wondering if the spindle that it is connected to is spring loaded, in other words, should it spring back to reset the tension on the governor mechanical link and in turn on the governor spring?
