I have currently have an American Reel Mower. It is ok, but does give a quality cut below 1.5". I want something I can get a good cut at or under .75". I have Bermuda grass. I am likely looking at the manual reels and not a gas powered one due to price. I would like to keep my purchase under $400 (paid $80 for the current reel). Anyone with good suggestions or experience with reels on Bermuda would be greatly appreciated!

Check out the "Mascot" brands. There is really only 2 that are recommended for Bermuda, zoysia, etc. and mascot appears to be the best from what I have been reading. They come in 18 or 21" inch. Going to run $250 to $300. A couple of websites attached. http://www.reelmowersetc.com/products.htm

The Mascot is a good manual reel. Can be very hard to push. Especially when adjusted to cut paper cleanly across the reel. It is heavy so it can generate some momentum, unlike the Brill. The Brill is just too light weight for thick Bermuda. In fact, I can't use any of my manual reels past late July, unless I cut every other day. NOT. Even my Trimmer 25 gives me grief late in the season, but I have a 30 degree slope. I did level it this year too but eventually resorted to my Honda HRX.

rager, thank you for the pic. That yard looks fabulous! What height is that cut? I will be leveling this spring. Like I said, I have been cutting with an American Reel. It does ok but I can really only cut it at about 1.25' (even though the blade will cut much lower) and not get the ripple/washboard affect across the yard. I am looking for something that is going to let me go down to atleast .75' with a precise cut which is what you have. I am assuming the picture you showed me has been cut by the mascot.
