Lawn Boy engine swap

Hi there,

I bent my shaft on the Lawn Boy motor (serial 681583D5) and have found a replacement block (serial 681430D1). I switched the carb and flywheel etc over but I cannot seem to get this new motor to run. There is spark etc. Does anyone know are these two motors compatable? Thanks

I don't know how to identify these components from the serial numbers. What are these engines, D400, D600, F engines what? Guess that they are both D400s, on the magneto plate will be the part number for the correct flywheel to use with that engine. There are, I think, 3 different flywheels for D400 engines, they are not enterchangeable.
