| Hello All.
I just bought my first home after years of city living in condos and apartments. So from there you can see my dilemma. No grass to cut or weeds to rake or snow to shovel (for the most part). Now as the season winds down i'm here looking at buying a new lawn mower. I have a small patch of grass about 25' X 80'. The thing is this patch of lawn is more triangular than square, so the sq. footage is a little less than 2000 sq/ft. SO here is my dilemma. My boss, aka the wife, has put a budget on my lawn mower purchasing power. I'm looking for a mower with a bag maybe mulching capability for $300 or under. She has already threatened my other hobbies if i go over the allotted budget... BTW she is pregnant and very hormonal - so if i don't post back i may have bought a more expensive mower and she used it to mulch my dead body. thanks and happy halloween. Joe |

| Get on craigslist and find a nice used Honda. I know it may sound like a poor idea since you can get a new one from Lowes/HD for that but believe me you dont want one of those. If you are knowledgeable at all about mechanics you could tell if the mower was treated/maintained properly. I purchased a 4 year old Honda HRT216HTA off clist, used it for 5 years and resold it for $180! Not the typical situation but it always started up first pull and cut my grass like a champ! |

| After re-reading my post I wanted to make clear that I WASNT talking about a new Honda mower from Lowes/HD. I was taking about brands like Murry/yardman/etc that are retched piles of feces IMO! :) |

| that is true.. i'm keeping my options open. i looked on craigslist and the shops also. thanks |

| Also, congrats on your first home purchase!!! If you do some searching on here you'll see that I am a big proponent of Honda mowers. After laboring for what seemed like eternity to get my first mower (hand me down snapper with a Briggs motor) started the one (very weak mind you) pull start of the Honda was something to behold. I'm sure someone will chime in saying snapper/toro/etc is better but in my opinion you just can't beat a Honda mower when it comes to the overall engineering and design. |
