Mower does not start. New spark plug, air filter is ok. If I remove spark plug, spray in starter fluid, reinstall spark plug, then attempt to start mower the engine will run 1-2 seconds and die out. I took carburator off and blew it out with air compressor. I don't know how to rebuild carburator. I think it is not getting gas, but don't know why. Would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Can you give us the model number? Toro has used a lot of different engines over the years.

Turn the mower up on it's side with the carburetor high. Remove the brass bolt on the bottom of the fuel bowl - the fuel bowl may stay on the carb. Clean the large orifices and the small one - this is located near the end of the threads and looks like a spot of dirt. Run a wire from a wire tie through it (it's on angle) then blow out all orifices with carb spray. Reinstall the bolt and set the mower on it's wheels. If the fuel bowl leaks, tighten the brass bolt only 1/8 turn at a time until it stops. Sometimes this has to be done about once a year but the use of fuel stabilizer/fuel system cleaner can prevent trouble. Use STA-BIL in your fuel can each time you fill it.

Hi, I cleaned the brass bolt and then started the mower and it started right up. However, before I got your message I took the carburator off and blew it out and ran a very small wire thru any hole I saw. When the mower started it spits out smoke like you can't believe. I don't have a clue as to why. Would appreciate your help, thanks in advance. It has plenty of oil in the engine.Oh, I had to remove the muffler to get the carburator off.

Ok guys, i hope someone will look at this. I have the same mower and was horrible about storage and maintenance for 3 or 4 years. I just changed the oil, spark plug, air filter, and used gum-out on the carb and the thing will start but immediately stalls. I found that if I continue to push the primer it will keep running. But as soon as I stop priming it, it stalls. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!??? HELP!!!
