Try a .020" spark plug gap.

There have been some restart issues with the auto choke models and they went to a smaller gap, more recent copper cored plugs. You may be thinking along the right lines w/ the intake o ring. Have you pulled the manifold and inspected it? Sometimes a crack will be found and others the mounting screws come loose. Bowl seal should be fresh, flywheel key checked just to cover a few bases.
