MTD snowblower help!

I've been using the forum for years as a non-member and many questions have been found, thanks! I am now having an issue that I am certain someone here has some advice for.

I built a new home and moved in this spring. As a result of the move, and ensuing chaos, my snowblower, an MTD with a Tecumseh HSK845 2-stroke engine, was left outdoors for the summer. I cleaned everythign up and fired it up. It runs great by the governor has apparently stopped working as the engine races out of control, and no movement is seen by the governor shaft. I can manually govern it by moving the shaft by hand, but as soon as I let go it races out of control again.

I'm fairly well mechanically inclined and I have tried adjusting the governor, but even at it's extreme adjustment it's not moving the shaft properly.

Any ideas?

Best thing to look for is a control rod that may have been pulled apart, during the loading/unloading, during the move! Careless lifting and pulling can remove or bend the carburetor control wires/ linkage.

Maybe the throttle shaft is somewhat varnished and sticking.
